How to upgrade your memory

Sounds like some computer term? Well, it maybe, but our human memory needs upgrades too. There is an ingrained saying that one’s brain power grows weaker with age. Those who declare that are not aware of the potential God has given us by giving us brains with all of their abilities. Memory is probably one of the biggest one of them. And the good thing is that it does not really decrease with age. It simply needs constant exercise and as most people to exercise less and less with age (the same can be said about brain activities) the weaker we become in both mental and physical areas of our lives. This as you may understand can be avoided.

I have always thought that I had about average ability to remember things, but when I started reading Dominic O’Brien’s book “How to develop a perfect memory” I found out that I was wrong. Our brain is immaculate. It can do tremendous things. After practicing a journey technique that Dominic shared in the book I easily remembered a list of ten things in about a minute. I later increased it to twenty, thirty and even more. It proved to me that I can upgrade my memory by using efficient mnemonic techniques and devices.

Firstly, you will need to get rid of an old-fashioned belief that you have a bad memory. These self limiting beliefs have a very negative influence on our brain work. We stop improving before we even try. Why? Because we see no use of it as we are sure we will not be successful. Be positive about your brains. It is very powerful. Believe it, because it really is.

Secondly, stop using methods that do not work. Most of us use pressure to remember by cramming and trying to remember by constant repetition of things. It works short term. Brains try to protect us against stress and they backfire when faced with stress and pressure.

Thirdly, use ways that help you to make impression on your mind. We do remember things that impress us. We remember extraordinary things. Mundane daily things are usually forgotten quite often. Quite a few mnemonic techniques are based on making this impression for your mind. They help us to use our senses, imagination and our power of concentration to achieve positive result in recalling remembered information.

These three tips will help you to start in your attempts to upgrade your memory
