Memory tip for 25th of April 2011

In my posts on how to increase your memory I have mentioned some unusual tips like: drinking small doses of coffee or listening to calm classical music. Today I want to give you one tip of the kind: chew a chewing gum to increase your memory power. I believe you have noticed that chewing gum increases alertness. If you ever have been driving a car pretty late you noticed how difficult it is not to fall asleep. Chewing something helps a lot. It also helps to increase your memorizing abilities.

Research shows that those students and pupils who chew gum during lessons and taking tests have much greater chances to do better at exams. People who chew gum during various memory tests do much better than those who don’t. Scientists cannot exactly explain why this is so, but most believe that this is due to the fact that your heart rate increases and this causes more oxygen to reach the brains. And when more oxygen reaches the brains your memory works much better.

There has been a lot of research done with American business people and one of the reasons why some showed poor results during their IQ tests is that their wore the ties too tight. This prevents oxygen from reaching the brains and as a consequence memory and the brains work much worse. So, if you ever have to take tests again, buy some chewing gum. Chocolate also might help as chewing it has the same result as chewing a gum.
